Ash Wednesday

Dear members and friends of Zion,

The weather has gotten frightful in our area of Minnesota! Due to the severe snowstorm, we regret to inform you that we will be canceling Zion's Ash Wednesday services. We understand that this may cause inconvenience, and we sincerely apologize for any disruption to your plans. The church office will be closed too.

Rest assured, we are committed to your spiritual well-being. The Thursday morning Ask the Pastor Bible Class is canceled for the safety of all attendees, but we are eagerly looking forward to resuming it soon. The church office will be open on Thursday.

Though we cannot gather in person for the next few days, we encourage you to stay connected by joining us for worship on Sunday morning. Stay safe, and God bless!

- Pastor Matt and the Board of Elders

Sundays in Lent

The season of Lent (not counting the Sundays) is the 40 days before Easter. It is a time of personal preparation and spiritual renewal of our hearts.

Lent is a penitential season when God’s family comes together by His grace: to hear His Word, grow in His knowledge, receive His forgiveness, strengthen our faith, feast at His table, come unto Him with our prayers, and offer Him our praise and thanksgiving for what He has and continues to do for us as His beloved children.

"O come, let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God." - Hebrews 12:2

Midweeks of Lent

What is the wilderness, and what does it symbolize in the Bible? Many significant Biblical stories involve God's people journeying through the wilderness. These narratives remind us that, even in places of isolation and challenge, they were not abandoned by God. Instead, the wilderness serves as a space where we can encounter Him in new and meaningful ways.

Although we may be tempted to avoid or rush through the 40 days of Lent, these days can be when we feel and recognize God's presence most strongly. By embracing this time of reflection, repentance, and renewal, we join those who came before us. The wilderness can be a sacred space where we are strengthened, shaped, renewed, and drawn closer to God. Thanks be to God!
